Meet Samantha

Dr. Samantha L.Hudson-DPA,MSW

Scholar. Public Servant. 18-Year Fairburn Resident.

Dr. Samantha Hudson is a candidate for Fairburn City Council who brings 22 years of public service experience and elite-level administrative expertise to the table. An 18-year resident of Fairburn, Dr. Hudson has built her career on service, leadership, and results. She is a nonprofit CEO, educator, and social worker who has spent decades working directly with families, youth, and community institutions to strengthen outcomes and expand opportunity.

Her professional background includes leading community-based organizations, developing programs that improve educational achievement and family stability, and working across government and nonprofit sectors to deliver measurable results. Through this work, she has gained a deep understanding of the policies and systems that shape communities—from education and public safety to economic development and responsible governance.

Above all, Dr. Hudson is a wife, mother, and grandmother who understands the everyday concerns of Fairburn families. While Fairburn is a wonderful place to live, she believes the city now requires sophisticated, forward-thinking leadership to address modern challenges—ensuring transparency in government, responsible growth, and a future where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

Dr. Hudson holds a Doctorate of Public Administration (DPA) from Walden University. She is an expert in how government systems should be managed to ensure they remain efficient, transparent, and strictly accountable to the taxpayers.

Her intellectual contributions to public policy are recognized at the highest national level:

A Heart for Fairburn, A Record of Results

For nearly two decades, Fairburn has been the foundation of Dr. Hudson’s life. It is the community where she raised her children in safety and where she now watches her grandchildren grow. She has consistently turned her academic expertise and professional experience into tangible results for her neighbors:

  • Fiscal Responsibility:  Advocating to disband the 26-year-old Middle Chattahoochee Water Authority, saving taxpayers $1.1 million and fighting for fair, transparent utility rates.
  • Systemic Reform: Leading the charge for a City Charter Rewrite. Fairburn’s current charter dates back to 1912; Dr. Hudson is committed to dismantling an outdated "infrastructure of white supremacy" to build a government that reflects our modern, diverse community.

  • Educational Excellence: As a Special Education teacher during the pandemic, she supported the literacy growth of 100% of her students, ensuring no child was left behind during the transition to remote learning.

  • Civic Impact: Increased Fairburn voter participation by 11% through the Black Georgia Vote Project, standing firm for transparency and the rule of law.

  • Family-First Initiatives: Founded the first annual Fairburn Family Fun Day and continues to lead annual back-to-school backpack drives to support our local students.
